About Peoria The Peoria Unified School District is one of the largest unified districts in Arizona serving more than 36,000 students in 32 elementary schools, seven high schools and one non-traditional high school. The district has a rich tradition of excellence, serving the community since 1889.The district spans much of the Northwest Valley with schools located in Glendale, Peoria, Surprise and Youngtown. Peoria Unified is labeled an “A” school district by the Arizona Department of Education’s Achievement Profiles and was honored to be the first district in the state to receive the prestigious AdvancED Accreditation.
The district prides itself on a 93 percent high school graduation rate, excelling schools, award-winning teachers, high test scores, specialized Signature Programs and championship athletic programs. Signature Programs are another point of pride for the district, which is unified – not uniform – and caters to the unique learning style of individual students. From academics to the arts, Signature Programs provide specialized learning opportunities for all students. It is our passion to provide students with academic, social, technical and emotional tools to face the challenges of post-secondary institutions and workplaces upon graduation. Our teachers are highly qualified and dedicated to providing the finest education for the students we serve.
In 2012, the district was recognized at the national level for the work it puts into biannual Patron Tours with a National School Boards Association Magna Award Honorable Mention. Patron Tours highlight an elementary and a high school and begin as patrons are greeted by the superinten
