This interactive per-conference workshop introduces the foundations of evidence-based storytelling, guiding participants through a practical framework for identifying audiences, selecting appropriate evidence, and crafting compelling arguments or narratives that resonate with targeted key constituent groups. Participants will examine and refine their own narratives or reports, discuss the role of generative AI, reflect on their different evidence needs of their audiences, and leave with tools to structure stories that connect head and heart-balancing credibility with authenticity. Dr. Teresa Rivenes will join NWCCU as Senior Vice President, effective August 12, 2024. Teresa brings extensive experience in higher education, starting as a faculty member and progressing through various administrative roles at several institutions across the United States. Most recently, she served as Vice President and Chief Academic Officer at Umpqua Community College. Teresa’s experience includes accreditation, strategic planning, project management, and crafting academic visions. Dr. Rivenes is passionate about using data-informed approaches to promote student success and close equity gaps. She received her degrees from American River Colleges, Montana State University-Bozeman, Weber State University, and Capella University.
